Xingxin Hu Chinese, b. 1988

Xingxin Hu finds great fascination in the seemingly ordinary moments that leave a lasting resonance in life. She seeks to document the in-advertent leakage of human complexities in these moments, delving into 'shades of the soul' - suspicious desires, loneliness, vulnerability, anxiety, and the ever-present sense of instability. Through this method, Hu reflects on and examine her own life while scrutinising the broader spectrum of humanity, questioning its form and nature.

Hu often draws inspiration from films, particularly those intimate moments that resonate with her experiences. She collects these moments and weave them into my personal history, creating new images.
Through purposeful framing or obscure narratives, Hu maintains simplicity and ambiguity in her work, to evoke discomfort and gently prompt the audience to reflect on their desires, contradictions, and the essence of human existence.
